Recently the previous organisers of the Chippenham Festival published the following: "We regret to announce that Chippenham Community Festival Association (previously Chippenham Arts Festival Association) is dissolved. Sadly there will be no Chippenham Festival 2008 in Chippenham." This follows a disastrous 2007 for what had fast become a popular local event. In mid 2007 I wrote: Chippenham Festival 2007. The Festival Committee have decided not to allow yourguide to Chippenham to publish program details for 2007. Instead they will have their own web site. I have no details of when that may be available. Perhaps they don't want to attract the visitors that this site gets each day. See also this report from the Gazette & Herald This report from the Gazette & Herald Early December 2007 The records of searches made on the yourguide site reveal that in the last two weeks of November there have been 72 searches on subjects directly related to the festival. The usual maximum number of searches is either for maps or population, always in single figures, 7 to 9 each. An official Festival page did appear a couple of weeks before the events commenced, possibly too late for visitors to find it through the search engines. The yourguide Festival page ( along with the website address www.chippenhamfestival.info ) had been an established 52 weeks a year publication until the ban and its subsequent removal from the index page. However there is plenty of other information on the "yourguide to Chippenham" web site.
