The Town Hall

You don't have to be interested in town twinning to enjoy a visit to la Flèche. The town makes a great centre for visiting the Loir (NB not the Loire) valley. The town is full of fascinating architecture, parks, pavement cafes, shady walks and has a wide range of good shops. There are interesting plaques to stand and interpret and some typical French street furniture. The Hotel de Ville was once a chateau started by Henri IV and there is a theatre dedicated to Delibes one of la Flèche's more famous sons. The town is also home to the Prytanée National Militaire, a school offering normal high-school education as well as classes, for those planning to enter French military service.
