Spotlight on. . . . . .

The Lawrence Society of Art was formed in 1953 and named in appreciation of Sir Thomas Lawrence's association with Devizes.

Membership of the Society is open to all local people interested in the visual arts. The Society has no selection committee and membership is not dependant on ability. Non painters are welcome.

The aims of the Society are to foster interests in all aspects of art and to encourage amateur artists by means of workshops, demonstrations, criticisms and lectures, also by holding exhibitions of members' work. Meetings, commencing at 7.30pm, are held in the Cheese Hall in Devizes Town Hall, normally on the first Monday of the month. The Society does not hold a meeting in January, July or August. Guests are always welcome at the monthly meetings.

Members enjoy a 10% discount on art materials at The White Horse Bookshop; Marlborough, St John's Art and Décor, Long Street, Devizes, the latter also gives 10% discount for framing, as do Devizes Fine Arts, Corn Store, Couch Lane, Devizes and Original Glory, Long Street, Devizes.
