Tuesday 5 February 2002 3:52:40 pm Name: David Chapman From: USA Comments: I worked and lived in Malmsbury for 18 months 1988-1989. I worked for Mullard/Philips on the AT&T site before we were relocated to Southampton. From there I moved to the US. I have fond memories of my time there - including three attempts at the driving test in Chippenham. I lived in Corston and Crudwell at various times during this period. Two years ago - while on vacation with my family in the UK - we stayed over at the Knoll House for a few nights. It was fun showing my family all the places that were part of my memory. Sunday 20 January 2002 7:42:27 am Name: Tony Brearley From: Ex - Malmesbury Comments: Ex Malmesbury Grammar School student from 1952-59 now living on Canada's wet coast! Sunday 13 January 2002 3:14:40 pm Name: Clay Craig From: Mobile, Alabama U.S.A. Comments: I was in Malmesbury for 2 days in Aug. of 1996 for a wedding. I recently found a brochure that I saved from The Old Bell Hotel. I decided that I would get on the internet to see if I could find out more. I was glad to find this site. I learned some of the history of the town while I was there and was extremely facinated, but this site told me a lot more. I enjoyed my stay very much. I also stayed in Lower Sunbury (not sure if spelling is correct) and visited London several times. I had a very memorable time during my stay in England and one day would like to visit again. Sunday 6 January 2002 10:26:54 pm Name: Gary Hayes From: Taree, NSW, Australia Comments: My great, great grandfather, George Garlick Godwin, lived in Malmesbury until he was transported to Australia for stealing a pig in 1832. After serving his time as a convict he married and blazed a trail through the wilderness to Forster, on the NSW north coast, where he and his family became the first white settlers in about 1862. I found this site because I began looking up more of my family trees, and simply typed my ancestor's name in Web Ferrett, and up came this great site. One of the names I noticed in the guest book is another of my very distant relatives, Di godwin, who spent many years helping to research the Godwin family tree. I would love to hear from any Godwin relatives in Malmesbury, as I believe there are many in the area.
